  • Which stone is best for the kitchen?
  • Here at Petra Stone we believe in finding something that is perfect for your unique lifestyle without sacrificing the aesthetic you want in a beautiful kitchen countertop and backsplash. Strong natural stones such as granite, quartzite, soapstone, and crystal are commonly recommended for kitchens. Marble is now a great option due to Azerocare.
  • Can you use Marble in a kitchen?
  • Marble is known for its stunning beauty, but many strayed away from it due to the more porous nature of the stone. However, Petra Stone is the only Stone Company in San Diego that offers the revolutionary technology developed by Antolini called Azerocare. Marble that has been treated with Azerocare can withstand the life of the kitchen just like any of the other stones, giving you more options.
  • What is Azerocare?
  • Azerocare is a permanent treatment developed by Antolini. This treatment on the marble prevents etching and staining for up to 12 hours. Whether it’s a wine spill, a left-out lemon wedge, or a forgotten spoon full of peanut butter on the counter, Azerocare can protect your marble for up to 12 hours before staining. Simply clean up before the 12 hours and your marble will remain looking new. Because of Azerocare, kitchen spills are no longer a threat to your beautiful marble countertops. Truly a dream come true!

  • Here at Petra Stone we offer natural and manufactured stones for all budgets. Please come in to see our showroom, we would love to help find something that is perfect for you.
  • Whats the difference between leather, polished, and honed?
  • Polished finishes have a reflective surface that displays the full vibrancy, depth, and crystal structure of the stone. Its sealant also aids in filling in any pores making is less likely to stain and more likely to repel moisture. Honed finish is another way of describing a matte finish. A honed finish is smooth, flat and consistent. The natural polish and shine of the stone is removed and the color is visibly lighter than the polished finish. A leather finish has no shine like the polished finish, but it has more depth than a honed finish. The unique texture and sheen of the stone gives it an elevated and modern look. We can change any stone to a polished, honed, or leather finish in house for an added fee.
  • What type of finishes does Petra Stone carry?
  • We have 10 different finishes. Polished, Honed, Leather, Satin, Striato, Riven, Chiseled, Hyrdro, Flamed, and Hammer Finish. Some finishes are special order only so they are not stocked at all times.
